May 2015

Dear Electronics Colleague:

Recently I had the pleasure of watching all stripes of politicians get lampooned by the "The Capitol Steps", a song and acting comedy ensemble from DC who rarely get to Chicago.  See one of their hilarious sketches here

We also were privileged to see Steve Winwood as he and his tight band plucked through classic Traffic, Spencer Davis Group and Blind Faith tunes. Great show!

Our continued teaching and presentation schedule is listed below.

IPC-6012 Certification Training

BEST Inc. now can certify/train you on the IPC-6012 standard.

The IPC-6012 Qualification and Performance Specification for Rigid Printed Boards establish and defines the qualification and performance requirements for the fabrication of rigid printed boards. Now, IPC has an industry developed and approved comprehensive training and certification program based on IPC-6012 (think of it as the "how to process and inspect a rigid board") that gives companies all the tools they need to increase employee skills and performance.

If you are looking for a comprehensive program that will develop your understanding of design, board and materials, board fabrication and inspection, this is the certification for you.

This 4-day lecture course is a comprehensive,  certification that teaches the requirements for design, fabrication and inspection of rigid printed boards. Based on supporting documentation from IPC-A-600 "The Acceptability of Printed Boards" (i.e. inspection criteria of rigid boards), this certification is a great asset for designers, manufacturing and quality engineers, purchasing agents, managers and supervisors, fabricators, board shop auditors and anyone recommending, inspecting, or specifying printed circuit boards.

Trivia Contest
May 2015

Ward Boldon of Universal Electronics was the first to answer last month's trivia question regarding the song "Purple People Eater" and what it has in common with Stormtroopers. The answer was Sheb Wooley the originator of the "Wilhelm Scream". There were a total of 15 people entered for the lightsaber drawing from last month.

In anticipation of the new Star Wars movie (see the latest trailer from the Force Awakens here) being released, we will continue to offer Star Wars prizes for all of the monthly winners tis year. This month it is a set of Star Wars charms. At the end of the year, all winners (right answer within (1) day of the question coming out, not just that months' winner) will be eligible to win a working light saber.

Question for May 2015:

In the multiple battles involving the Death Star which human survived both?
