Dear Electronics Colleague:
We were fortunate enough to host Purdue University students for an introductory course to PCB manufacturing and assembly prior to the holidays. They really were an engaging crowd (ranked in the top 10 engineering schools in the US!).
Our continued teaching and presentation schedule is below. Look for our tech symposium schedule for the fall soon!
JOIN US at the SMTA MN/Minneapolis meeting on January 28th as we offer a presentation on, " High Thermal Mass Rework". More info on registering for this talk is here.
As we gear up for APEX we invite you to the following sessions:
Sun Feb 22
PD06: Advanced Rework: Hands-On BGA Reballing, Leadless Devices and Fine-Pitch Parts Mier/Barnhart Wed Feb 25th Debunking the myth......Teflon(TM) Tape is not the Best Masking Material for PCB Rework
More info on APEX tech sessions here.
At the time of the writing we just had another article published on all of the 610/JSTD changes here.

IPC Certification Testing Goes Moves in to the Cloud
2015 will be a year of change for IPC certification testing. Beginning in April of 2015, IPC will no longer be accepting paper-based examination testing for IPC certification or re-certification.This will bring several advances to the program: 1. Randomized test questions and answer orders will help to legitimize and solidify the credentials, 2. Poor test questions can be thrown out based on real time results, 3. The efficacy of different instructors in specific areas can be monitored and improved based on student test results. 4. Record keeping, tracking, and portability of certificates will be assured. In order to make sure that the testing can be administered, all certification holders will need an email address and all testers will require online access using a browser.Within the first half of the year we expect the new "F" versions of the JSTD-001 and IPC-A-610 training programs to be available. Call Alex at BEST at 847.797.9250 if you have further questions. |
