This lead-free rework modules are intended for rework technicians and supervisors responsible for the rework of lead-free assemblies.
Objectives
Participants successfully completing the course are able to identify and explain:
- Areas of the rework process impacted by the move to a lead-free soldering process
- Defects common in the lead-free soldering process
- Acceptability of both lead and lead-free solder joints
- Maintenance and care of soldering equipment for lead-free soldering
- Naming conventions and labeling of lead-free solders
- Laminates and finishes and lead free rework
- Maintaining and mixed lead and lead-free rework area
- Removal, site preparation and replacement of both lead-free SMT and through hole components
- MSD issues with lead free rework
- Area array device rework using lead-free solders
- X-Ray and other inspection techniques using lead-free solders
- Affect of temperature on lead-free area array devices
Qualification and Certification Testing
This training interactive learning module constantly checks throughout whether or not the student is learning. At the end of the module the successful student is awarded a certificate. A criterion-referenced test with feedback and a response to each question is given.
