StencilMate(TM)
New Method for QFN Rework
Launched by BEST

These rework "bumping" stencils simplify the replacement of leadelss device packages such as LGAs, QFNs and others. StencilMate™ stencils are manufactured to your exact specifications with the data taken from your device data sheet. The stencil is cut using a laser to your special device requirements. The stencil is aligned to the prepped device and reflowed. After reflow, the stencil is simply peeled away and the device cleaned. Now this bumped device can be placed by other conventional means or aligned using the mating StencilMate™ stencil adhered to the PCB. More on this technique here

Nuclear powered battery
Penny-Sized Battery Powered by Nuclear Isotopes

A University of Missouri team has developed this technology which holds a million times as much charge as standard batteries.

They have developed it in an attempt to scale down power sources for the tiny devices that fall under the category of micro- and nano-electromechanical systems. Upon further development perhaps your IPOD or cell phone could be powered by the same technology some day.

Nuclear batteries are an attractive proposition for many applications because the isotopes that power them can provide a useful amount of current for phenomenally long times - up to hundreds of years or more.
