This month's focus is on
PCB repair tools.
BEST PCB repair tools
are designed using BESTs'
combined experience in
the area of performing
these repairs,
instructing technicians
on these repair
techniques and
developing new
materials.
There are several new
developments in the area
of PCB repair materials
that we are bringing you
this month including new
circuit frame patterns
which we have engineered
keeping in mind:
RoHS compliance
needs
Ability to
withstand operating
temperature and
soldering cycles
A good repair
value
We have also added a
trace repair kit to the
BEST product offering
that provides a large
variety of trace
patterns and the right
tools for these type of
repairs.
Hope to see you at
Assembly Technology!

BEST
Trace Repair
Kit designed to
meet the quality
of original
trace patterns.
BEST makes it
simple for you
to repair
damaged circuit
traces on
printed circuit
boards. BEST
circuit tracks
are ribbons of
99.9% pure CDA
11000 copper
with etched
backsides that
provide a large
surface area to
adhere the
traces to the
board. They
closely conform
to the original
conductor
dimensions.
These
replacement
circuit tracks
are bonded in
place using
pre-packaged
2-part epoxy
included in the
kit. This kit is
a great time and
labor-saver
providing the
tools you need
to quickly
repair missing
or damaged
circuit traces.
The method for
repairing
damaged circuit
traces adheres
copper circuit
tracks to the
circuit board.
The replaced
conductors are
the same size as
the original.
This IPC-approved
technique is
preferable to
making circuitry
repairs with
jumper wires
because it most
closely
duplicates the
original
manufacturing
process.
The BEST circuit
track kit is
designed for
flexibility with
(7) different
circuit trace
widths and
thicknesses to
accommodate
nearly every
standard circuit
trace used
today. Each of
the traces as
well as the
epoxy packs can
be purchased
individually
when the supply
from the kit is
exhausted.
If surface mount
or BGA pads or
traces have been
damaged due to
improper part
removal
techniques or
mechanical
"digging" into
the circuit
board, then BEST
can repair these
damaged circuit
patterns to as a
"good as new"
condition. If a
critical area
array device
needs to have
its pads and or
traces repaired
prior to
reballing then
BEST can repair
these pads and
traces.
BEST stocks many
different kinds
and styles of
pads and traces
in order to
facilitate a
fast turnaround
of the repair.
We even have the
ability to make
custom traces
and pads in
order to reduce
the time and
cost it takes to
perform repeat
repairs.
BEST has a
variety of
options for your
PCB repairs: we
can either
perform repairs,
instruct you in
the techniques
of those PCB
repairs or
provide/engineer
materials for
you performing
those repairs at
your facility.
The IPC Solder
Products Value
Council, in
supporting the
electronics
assembly
industry, has
now identified a
lead-free solder
alloy
"standard". The
Council has
helped resolve
the confusion
regarding alloy
choice and has
moved the
industry towards
achieving a
worldwide
consensus on the
issue. The
Council will
help
"standardize" on
this alloy,
which in turn
will reduce
costs to the
industry,
benefiting
solder suppliers
and users alike.
The companies
that make up the
Council will now
devote resources
to improving the
education,
training and
support of this
alloy throughout
the industry.

BEST has
engineered
numerous circuit
frames for your
PCB repair needs. BEST
circuit
frames have a
variety of
advantages over
competive frames
including:
All
materials
are RoHS
compliant and are
compatible
with both
Sn63 and
lead-free
processes
BEST
frames are
3x larger
meaning they
are greater
value for
your PCB

dollar
They are
used with
the epoxy
method which
retains its
bond
strength
even through
heating and
cooling
cycles
