Dear Subscriber;
|
In this edition of the BEST newsletter we are discussing :
- Schedule of fall classes
- A "cool" project to cool off with
We were fortunate to have a wonderful turnout for the recent rework symposium that was held at BEST on Thursday, August 14th at BEST Inc in Rolling Meadows. Speakers
from OK International, VJ Technologies and BEST spoke on various rework
technologies and practices. In addition, there were demonstrations from
the BEST staff , Chemtronix and PACE. Engineers saw how to do it !
Congratulations are in order to the BEST team which was rewarded with a INC Top 5,000 fastest growing companies in America award.
Do not forget to mark your calendars for BESTFest, our
grand re-opening party taking place the week of IPC-Midwest / ATExpo in
Chicago. If you are coming in from out of town this is your chance to
see our newly-remodeled space and have some fun with games, food and
drinks after the show! Do not forget to see our new capabilities movie!
Thanks!

Check out the newest gold cup wire insertion and prep tips. BEST
Instructors have put together video demonstrations of common hand
soldering tips and skills. These are not designed to be in place of
live one on one training where repetitive skills and subsequent one on
one feedback is given. Rather, they are quick refreshers designed to be
viewed if a specific skill has not been practiced in a while.

Portable 12V Air Conditioner --Cheap and easy!
Hot this summer? Looking to cool down? Here's a cool project....The basic concept is to use a boating bilge pump
to circulate iced water through a heater core, thereby chilling it, and
to use a pair of 12V box fans to blow air through the heater core.
It is very compact and portable, lightweight without the ice, no
environmentally not-so-friendly chlorofluorocarbons, hydrogenated
chlorofluorocarbons, or hydrofluorocarbons. It is also very quiet and operates
off 12VDC. The only disadvantage is that it
the ice will melt after 30-60 minutes of operation, depending on the
size of your cooler.
Some of the Materials include the following: Ice Chest - The Igloo Ice Cube 14 would work, well, as do the Cool 16 and the MaxCold 24.
Heater Core-You can find these on eBay for 99 cents to $20, or from an auto store for around 20 bucks, or at an auto salvage yard.
Box Fans and Blade Guards- Under $10 on eBay.
Bilge Pump-$10.44 for a 500GPH unit at Wal-Mart
